Oklahoma Tornado Catastrophe

I was shocked to hear about the horrible tornado in Oklahoma yesterday, which according to the report I just read killed at least 90 (including 20 children) and destroyed upwards of 7,000 buildings. Unbelievable!

[Edit: Apparently the death toll is lower. The above statistics were reported in a Vatican News Report that I read this afternoon.]

The Holy Father prayed for everyone at his morning Mass today in the Vatican, and later sent out this Tweet: “I am close to the families of all who died in the Oklahoma tornado, especially those who lost young children. Join me in praying for them.”

Gladly I add my humble prayers! May the dead rest in peace and may those who must now rebuild their lives and are in need of healing find all the help and support they need.

News currently is saying 24 are dead. Still horrible, but not 90.

    • Oh. The Vatican news bulletin today, where I had gotten the info, said: “The tornado that struck the state of Oklahoma, USA, yesterday has caused 91 deaths, 20 of whom were children, and destroyed over 7,000 buildings. Entire neighbourhoods on the outskirts of Oklahoma City were destroyed. There are over a hundred wounded and still missing persons.” I’ll update the blog post when I get home this afternoon.
