Memento Mori

Memento mori: Latin for, “remember death”.

It is a reality that we all must face and for which we must prepare ourselves – now.

How is it that we go through life, hearing often enough of so-called “untimely deaths”, yet we still manage to ignore that possibility for ourselves? We know neither the day nor the hour, so we must be ready – today!

I believe this is from an old prayer card.

Let us pray.

O God, who has doomed all men to die, and has concealed from all the hour of their death: grant that I may pass my days in the practice of holiness and justice, and that I may be made worthy to leave this world in the peace of a good conscience, and in the embrace of your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
