Beach Reading

I am sure that you would not want to go to the beach (or other vacation destination) this summer and leave God at home. You should bring some spiritual reading also!

To that end, I always and highly recommend the books of Fr. Jacques Philippe. He writes in an incredibly clear and engaging style, translating perennial spiritual wisdom into slim volumes that speak to folks like you and me here in the year twenty-thirteen.

But you can search for him on Amazon and find all of his other excellent books.

And don’t forget about the web site Mass Times for finding Mass when on vacation. It is always a good idea to call and confirm the schedule with the church, as sometimes the listings are outdated.

One Response to Beach Reading

  1. One aspect of this book that I enjoyed was Fr. Philippe’s inclusion of excerpts at the end of the book from writings of holy men and women on the book’s subject matter. The authors of the excerpts include Juan de Bonilla, Francis de Sales, Teresa of Avila, Marie of the Incarnation, François-Marie-Paul Libermann, and Padre Pio.

The information returned on a Google search for Juan de Bonilla was quite limited. That was somewhat unexpected.
