As I posted before, purity of heart is a most necessary thing for us to seek and to obtain in this life so that we can see God face-to-face in the next.
In addition to the “how to” type of advice that I gave in that post, I recently came across something else in an old prayer book. It turns out that Blessed Pope Pius IX attached a special indulgence to the following prayers when recited for the intention of “victory in temptations, especially those against chastity”.
(While that special indulgence is no longer available in its then-granted form, yet the recommendation of the Holy Father is weighty and important, and we have the possibility of gaining partial indulgences for all the prayers we devoutly recite.)
What are the prayers? One Hail Mary, followed by the recitation of the “My Queen and My Mother” prayer, which follows below:
My Queen and my Mother, I give myself entirely to you, and in proof of my affection I give you my eyes, my ears, my tongue, my heart, my whole being without reserve. Since I am your own, keep me and guard me as your property and possession. Amen.
This prayer, by the way, is one of the ones included in the excellent prayer book that I link to on the right side of the blog.
