Two Ceilings for Our Lady

Saturday is wrapping up, but before midnight strikes here in Rome I’d like to post two photos of ceilings with beautiful images of Our Lady on them. A conversation with a friend today reminded me of these two photos that I had in “the archives”.

Here is the ceiling in the Church of Saint Marcellus on the Corso (San Marcello al Corso), a three minute walk from my back door:

Here is the ceiling of the Basilica of Our Lady at the Altar of Heaven (Santa Maria in Aracoeli), a 10 minute walk from my back door:

Each of these photos shows just the central section of the much larger ceiling – i.e. the area where the medallion of Our Lady is. The first one, in the Church of St. Marcellus, is my favorite, though both are extremely beautiful!
