A Psalm for Bedtime

I will not give sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
until I find a place for the LORD,
a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.
– Psalm 132:4-5

Our last thoughts each day before falling asleep should be of the Lord: thanking him for the day, asking forgiveness for our failings, resolving to do better tomorrow, asking him to give us peaceful rest. We should, indeed, not give rest to our eyes until we have found that place for him in our hearts and minds.

Then, we can sleep in peace.
