A Hymn for St. Patrick’s Day

Here is a very beautiful hymn, based upon the text of St. Patrick’s Breastplate. We often sing it during Cathedral liturgies in the Diocese of Birmingham. Just hearing this recording brings back to my mind many consoling memories.

Let’s remember to pray today for the many Irish priests who have served the Diocese of Birmingham in Alabama, and so many other dioceses in the United States!

I couldn’t get the sound link to work on my MacBook. Did it copy to your blog properly?

    • It works when I load it here, and I think it has a Worldwide Youtube license, so I don’t think it’s a copyright issue. Anyone else having trouble getting it to load?

Chancel Choir sang this at 9am mass yesterday 🙂

Got it to work! Thank you! It is, indeed, quite beautiful.

Enjoy your last few months overseas!

  4. We sang a version of this yesterday, Father! We only sang the first and last verse, though, along with the “Christ within me,” verse between them (our SATB version is a bit different from this recording however). We sang it after Communion as the vessels were being purified. 🙂
