The Pope’s St. Joseph Statue

Via Twitter this morning, I found this photograph of the current St. Joseph “prayer space” or shrine that the Holy Father has set up in his apartment at the Domus Sanctae Marthae, otherwise known as the “Vatican Hotel”. It appears that he has a slightly different statue of the sleeping St. Joseph from that which he previously had, pictured in yesterday’s post:

Note the prayer intentions slid underneath the statue.

Perhaps those in the “The Pope Lives in the Hotel to Embrace Poverty” crowd will also note the very fine desk or credenza upon which the statue is placed, with its inlaid wood decoration – not exactly the $50 special at Ikea. I don’t have a problem with this, but there are some who do, and have spun the Pope’s living situation ideologically to suit their narrative. In this regard, see my previous post/rant: “Where Pope Francis Lives“.

St. Joseph, pray for us!
