One Year Blog Anniversary

Well, as a footnote to today’s Far More Important Things To Think About, it is also the one year anniversary of this blog! How time flies!

Here is my first post, which is actually a bit funny now: Facebook Freedom

It’s funny because I’ve since been sucked back into the Facebook vortex. I still have the same concerns that I posted about before with regard to Facebook, but it was good to be away from it for some time, and I’ve also taken a different approach to it now: I make far more aggressive use of the feature that allows you to hide people from your “feed”.

In the past year, the blog has had more than 67,000 page views (and that does not include my own views – no, I have not been sitting here hitting “reload” to increase it artificially!); in any case I estimate that at least 2,000 of those come from’s “bot”, which by now must have downloaded the entire site a few times over. Honestly, it’s unbelievable how many automated visits I get from their servers.

I have no idea how long this blogging thing will continue: after all, I am leaving Rome at the end of June to move back to the United States, and life will be a bit more ordinary (thank God). So, we’ll see what happens.

A big thank you to all who read the blog, to all who have sent me their prayer intentions, and to all who have prayed for me! Oremus pro invicem: let us pray for one another!

I personally will miss your blogs if you stop. Please don’t!! Your posts are very informative on church matters and personal ones. I don’t know how you find the time to do so many though. I have passed your blog information on to so many people in the parish. Blessings to you as you start a new mission in the states when you return.

As I posted on your Facebook page 🙂 …. Oh, my…..a year! Congratulations. But, I selfishly, must put in my two thoughts….I do hope you keep up the blog, Father. Your insights and challenges have been a blessing in my life, and I am sure, in the lives of everyone reading. It is continuing catechesis that we need to feed us spiritually. Thank you – and I hope you do continue. Pax et bonum….
PS: as far as the schoolwork? I am blessed to be editing the doctoral paper of a priest studying in Rome – you may even know him, I suppose *lol* Believe me, I know all about the mountain of work you are all doing. I promise you are all in my prayers…..God bless.

I have truly enjoyed your blog posts. I may never be able to travel to some of the places you write about, and I love the quirky little tidbits of information you include! Thank you for praying for my intention, recently. God bless!

Happy Anniversary!!! I echo all the above responses. I have very much enjoyed reading your insights to our faith and will miss them if they stop. You are a very special person and a true servant of Our Lord. May you continue to be blessed, especially as you finish your studies in Rome. I am privileged to say I know you and pray that our paths will cross again in the very near future.
